Savannah Banker Elected President of TBA Independent Bankers Division

Members of the Independent Bankers Division of the Tennessee Bankers Association (TBA) met last week in Nashville for their annual convention. During the program, delegates elected officers and directors to lead the division during 2009-2010. Gordon Majors, president and CEO, of The Hardin County Bank in Savannah, was elected president of the Independent Bankers Division. The attached news release provides information on all the officers and directors elected and the division’s relationship with the TBA.

Waynesboro Banker Appointed to TBA Board of Directors

Larry Haggard, president of Wayne County Bank, Waynesboro, TN, was recently appointed to the board of directors of the Tennessee Bankers Association (TBA).

The Southeastern School of Commercial Lending - 35 graduate from 2009 program

NASHVILLE—Bankers from six states have completed requirements for graduation from the 2009 session of The Southeastern School of Commercial Lending (TSSCL). A total of 35 bankers from Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, and Mississippi at-tended the annual program, which was held at the Owen Graduate School of Management on the Vanderbilt University campus in Nashville, May 17–22. The Tennessee Bankers As-sociation (TBA) conducts the school in cooperation with the Alabama, Georgia, , Louisiana, and Mississippi bankers associations.

Tennessee Bankers Association Elects New Leadership Oneida Banker to Serve as Chairman

Michael B. Swain, chairman of The First National Bank of Oneida, Oneida, TN, was installed as chairman of the Tennessee Bankers Association (TBA) during ceremonies at the closing banquet of the organization’s 119th Annual Meeting. Approximately 450 members of the financial services industry and related businesses attended the convention.

Tennessee Bankers Association and Office Depot Announce Partnership

On Sunday, January 25, the Tennessee Bankers Association announced a new partnership with Office Depot. The partnership will provide discounts averaging 80% to all TBA members and associate members on a wide range of products from office supplies to business services. Office Depot has a professional sales staff across Tennessee that will be catering to the needs of TBA members and associate members.

TBA Celebrates LEED Designation

The Tennessee Bankers Association (TBA) celebrated its headquarters’ LEED certification with a dedication ceremony on Friday, October 17. TBA’s class-A, 35,685 square foot, two-story office and conference facility was designed to achieve LEED certification for energy use, lighting, water and materials, among a variety of other sustainable strategies.
