NFCC Launches 2007 National Financial Literacy Poster Contest
In an effort to spread lessons in financial literacy to the youth of our nation, the National Foundation for Credit Counseling (NFCC) is sponsoring the BE MONEY WISE National Poster Contest in 2007. The theme is “Plant the Seed of Saving to Grow Your Future.”

This contest ties in perfectly with your Personal Economics Program activities and is a great lead-in to Financial Literacy Month in April and National Teach Children to Save Day on April 24.

The contest is designed to get young students thinking about how to manage money effectively and offers them a creative outlet to demonstrate their knowl-edge. It also offers the opportunity for local and national recognition for student artwork and rewards winners with US savings bonds and other prizes.
The contest features three grade categories:
• Elementary – grades 1 – 5
• Middle – grades 6 – 9
• High – grades 10 – 12.

Entries will be judged on expression of the theme, artistic style, and creativity.
Go to the National Foundation for Credit Counseling website at http://www.nfcc.org/postercontest/index.cfm for complete poster contest rules and guidelines.

All contest entries in the National Financial Literacy Poster Contest must be submitted to an NFCC member agency for judging. The submission deadline for poster entries will be in early March 2007, specific deadlines will vary by NFCC member agency. See the box for a list of member agencies in Tennessee. To locate and contact your local agency, visit www.nfcc.org.

National finalists, as submitted by each NFCC member agency, will be judged and placed in contention for three national awards, one per grade category. An overall national winner will also be chosen from the three category winners.

The national winner will be flown to Washington, with a parent, and pre-sented with the national award as well as a $500 US savings bond in late April during Financial Literacy Month.
