Government Relations and Legal Affairs |
Good government is a reflection of good people getting involved in the process. As community leaders, it is imperative that Tennessee bankers be informed and to participate in the process both as individuals and as an industry.
Banking is one of the most highly regulated industries in the marketplace and competition for market share is increasing everyday. It is for these reasons that the banking industry must have a strong voice to represent its interests. The TBA Government Relations & Legal Affairs Department oversees all legal matters for the TBA as well as the association’s government relations program and TBA’s political action committee, TBA BankPac. TBA’s Government Relations & Legal Affairs Department works everyday on the legal, legislative and regulatory issues that impact our member banks and their ability to serve their communities.
Through its government relations program, TBA represents the interests of our member banks to state government as well as federal legislative and regulatory bodies. The department reviews, monitors and responds to legislation and regulatory action, at both the state and federal level, and serves as a resource to legislators, their staff and agency/department staff. In addition, the Government Relations & Legal Affairs staff works with TBA’s member banks to promote the association’s government relations program and to encourage active participation in the process by providing the necessary resources and information needed to communicate effectively on the issues.
